Epilepsy

Definition-

A neurological disorder characterized by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory and motor disturbance, associated with abnormal electrical activity in brain.

Cause-

• 70% cause in unknown - ediopathy/primary
• 30% cause are 

1. Head injury
2. space occupying lesion (SOL) - tumor
3. Trauma to brain
4. Infection
5. Stroke
6. Drug use eg. Alcohol withdrawal
7. Birth injury

Epilepsy have Seizure like attack

1. PARTIAL- Particular place, some part eg. one hand jurking.
2. Generalized- (total body) - Stiffness of body, sudden fall without reason, rhythmic movement of hand and feet.

According to Cause - 

1. Primary
2. Secondary

According to Seizure-

1. PARTIAL
2. GENERALIZED

Seizure- is episodes of abnormal electrical activity of neuron within the brain. 

All the body functions like thinking, feeling, moving of muscles depends on electrical signals between the nerve cells.

Seizure occur when too many nerve cell in brain fire quickly.

Pathophysiology-

Paroxysmal - more electrical discharge in cortical neuron cells -- extra electrical impulse of neurons --Co-ordination of impulse conduction is disturbed -- Results - a lot of involuntary muscles movements -- Seizure.

Clinical Feature-

• Period of black out or fainting
• Sudden fall with any reason
• Episodes of blinking of eye and chewing.
• Tongue bite
• Convulsion with jerking.

Investigation-

Convulsion (body muscles relax and contract rapidly )

History - normal fainting / Seizure attack

MRI (Megnetic resonance imaging)

चिन्ता , शोक  मानसिक कारण के कारण स्मृति नाश। 

पूर्वरूप -

• ह्रदय कम्पन 
• शून्यता 
• ध्यानमग्न रहना 
• मूर्छा 
• निद्रा नाश 

प्रकार -

• वातज 
• पित्तज 
• कफज 
• सन्निपातज 

वातज के लक्षण -

• कम्पन 
• दाँत का किटकिटाना 
• मुख से फेन उद्गम 
• स्वाश गति तीव्र 
• रोगी प्रत्येक वास्तु कृष्ण व अरुण वर्ण का देखता है 

पित्तज के लक्षण -

• पीट वर्ण फेनोद्गम 
• शरीर , मुख  व आंख - पीतवर्ण 
• सभी वास्तु पीत वर्ण के दिखना 

कफज अपस्मार के लक्षण -

• सभी वास्तु शवेत वर्ण 

सन्निपातज अपस्मार के लक्षण -

• तीनो दोषो के लक्षण देखते है 

साध्यासाध्यता -

• एक दोषज - साध्य 
• सन्निपातज - असाध्य
